If tests use too much data, open Settings in the app and test less often. Each test downloads as much as your connection allows for about 10 seconds, and Settings shows what tests used today.

Speed Monitor is made by Ahmed Medhat. The app doesn't collect your personal data. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it sends nothing to the developer.
The app
- Speed tests: the app uses
networkQuality, a tool built into macOS, which connects to Apple's test servers. As with any internet connection, those servers can see your IP address. Apple's handling of this is covered by Apple's privacy policy. - Results: speed, latency, connection type and data used are saved only on your Mac for 7 days. You can delete them at any time in Settings.
- Notifications: slow-speed alerts are created on your Mac, not sent from a server.
Email and this website
- Support email: if you email the developer, your email address and whatever you include in the message are received and used only to reply to you. You can ask for your emails to be deleted at any time.
- This website: this page uses no cookies or analytics. It's hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service, which uses visitors' IP addresses to deliver the page, detect abuse and report usage, and keeps them for a few months. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
